|

Hello there,
almost finished building a crazy punk-spirited mobile recording unit in a caravan. Thought everything was sweet now that my Euphonix MC Control is booting up off a solitary Mac Mini put away in a cupboard and happily controlling Nuendo on a PC after installing the Pro version of EuCon... But then disaster struck:
I have a Behringer BCR2000 knobtray that I previously (under N3.2) used as a Generic Remote to control the UAD-1 channel strip plugin. I had it set up so that whenever I'd insert the plugin on a track's insert 2, the parameters would come up on the Behringer. This always worked beautifully.
Now I tried the same thing under N4.2.2 and SSL Duende's channel strip. I was shocked to find that the assignments that took an hour to program had disappeared on the following day. The upper part of the Generic Remote window still showed the CCs for the knobs but the lower part had only retained the first parameter (VST Mixer -> Selected -> SSL Channel low shelf frequency), the rest said 'not assigned'. I had exported my settings and re-imported them, this didn't fix a thing, the assignments still didn't show up.
Haven't tried yet with the UAD channel strip, so I'm not sure whether this is an issue related to the plugin. Does this ring a bell, anyone? Am I forgetting some crucial button press, or is Generic Remote broken in N4.2.2? |

Bump this... The problem still persists. Every pot and button has been individually learned and named in the upper part of the Generic Remote window (68 controllers total, I think), some assigned to Control Room functions and some to SSL and UAD channel plugin parametres;
what happens is that after a Nuendo restart the upper part of the window retains everything, names, controller numbers and all. However the lower part dumps all assignments except for the very first one on the list. Also the bank selector ('VST 1-16' and so on) is reset to defaults. Importing the .xml with the assignments freshly saved after programming shows the same behaviour.
It seems to me that the whole lower part of the window does not get saved when I hit 'Apply' and 'OK', neither when I export the settings.
Any ideas, please? Where does Nuendo save this stuff, registry or some file in the program directory? I want to check whether there's some file locking / write protection issue happening. Help!
System is 2x AMD Opteron dual-core, XP Pro, 4 gig RAM, Euphonix MC Control (running on the MC Pro driver), UAD-1 and SSL Duende, Nuendo 4.2.2. The controller I'm trying to set up is a Behringer BCR2000. |

Make sure that once you've created the generic remote, you save it and then re-load it. Also, it's crucial that none of the controllers have the same name! I used copy once to create new controller assignments (which also copies controller "names"), entered new controller values (on several controllers) only to find everything gone when I re-opened Nuendo. _________________ Comp1: Windows 7 64bit, Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R, Intel I7 920, 6 gig Patriot DDR3 ram, RME Digiface, Geoforce 66000 PCIe, , Cubase 5.5

I tried the same thing. I mapped some values, applied and the next day when I loaded up they where gone. I exported to \program files\nuendo 4\device maps\ and the mapping has stayed.
I hope this helps. I am happy to hear someone mapping to plugins. There is so much power in getting your hands on a parameter. I am having another issue with generic remote of only seeing the hardware midi devices as the input and not any plugins. http://forum.nuendo.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=19544
Good luck. _________________ Nuendo 4, Sonica Hush RT-8 with XP Pro, RME Fireface 800, Waves Diamond. |

Yei!
After taking every precaution imaginable, it now looks like my mappings are stickin'. The magic happened when I saved my mappings XML under \Nuendo\Device Maps and imported right away, then hit 'Apply' and only then 'OK'd the window away. I even used an eight character uppercase filename (UGGENREM.XML) to be absolutely sure -- maybe there's still some archaic Atari code in there somewhere :)
Thanks to all! |

Wow, I'm so glad I wasn't the only person running into this problem. I'm messing around with using an Xbox 360 controller thru MIJOY PRO 3 (and MIDI Yoke) as a controller and it would keep dropping all my assignments. The forum wins again. _________________ Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz
