LETS SPEC THE IDEAL SYNC BOX...CALL IT..."SUPERSYNCO"..... Some Fun!
Knowing that we live in a hi-def world and a Standard def world and that Steinberg has some pretty sophisticated protocols
with which to work lets identify:
* ASIO Position protocol.... Does this apply to a SMPTE synchronizer? Internally this might be quite necessary for high accuracy sync.
* Midi TC... I have never used it. But it's probably necessary in the music world.
* System Link. This is a terrific idea however it uses an audio channel to link different machines. Ideally there would be a SL connector on all the sound cards or a seperate sync card to essentially do the same. Currently limited to 3 or 4 machines this link bus should be open-ended10 to 100 machines if needed.
* LTC SMPTE or PAL Timecode generate and receive for locking.
* 9 pin transmit and/or receive for video applications.
* HD Sync Ref seperate HD tri-level sync input switchable on panel front (The new PT HD Sync I/O did NOT get this right)
* SD Sync Ref seperate SD standard Black Burst @ 24, 25,29.9, 30 fps switchable on panel front
* All the sample rates plus -/+.1% pull, and -/+4% pull, and -/+.41% pull
* Al Timecode rates and 29.9 Drop Frame
* Software and hardware menu for all selections
* Motion control buttons on front panel
* A Remote control connector to which you can build your custom console remote transport panel
* Rock stable internal clock with jitter compensation.
* WC in and out all the way up to 384k
* System link master bus with 6 bidirectional cat6 connections
One second lock time
Mute until lock
Lock relay outputs
Timecode readout
Timecode regenerator
And more.... gotta get SOME sleep.
What happened to the Lakers????!!!??? Grrrr!! _________________ 'What we've got here is a failure to communicate" ... Cool Hand Luke ;-) |

We are in the phase of "real-life" testing of the box, so it shouldn't take long anymore ...

Do you perhaps have a tentative price for the unit?
Thanks,

The box is in full beta, but since there are so many variables involved, it takes a while to test everything and iron out the inperfections and bugs.

I never thought our facility would go tapeless but it looks like it might happen before this box gets released.

It's been three months. Have they produced at least one unit that I can buy? This would be funny were it not as tragic. |

| OK, so we're officially in 2010. I have finally come to the conclusion that this thing, whatever it is or will be called, will never see the light of the day. |

I will watch the news and posts about this unit for a while and then decide to go for t or not...
Alpermann+Velte, Rosendahl and more have nice solutions, as well, but a Nuendo gadget would be cool to have, too.
I think I have to waste my Adam Smith zeta 3 synchronizer, after all...
In this thread there was talking of an internal TC i/o... I just want to mention that the old Spectral card had a TC I/O in 1997
which worked quite well with anything I threw at it. It is a pain that the industry wants to sell boxes rather then reliable software/usb conns
to sync... It has been done successfully some time ago, but never got marketed....

| I have Nuendo 4/Lynx AES16 setup. I get a considerable number of jobs where I somply need to work with various Sony decks. Nuendo doesn't recognize Alpermann+Velte PCI cards. I tried with Rosendahl without success. And now I'm getting the new sync box. It0s already on its way. LTC still rules here. |

Well Alright !!!
I saw it at the NAMM show.
I played with a beta unit a few months ago.
It took Digidesign about 4 different products before they got it right.
Colin is no dummy so this should be exactly what is needed.
The manual downloadable here is very descriptive. Cool!
Better late than never! :)

So the SyncStation started shipping over a month ago.
You having shipped via a team of trained carrying snails or something, as it doesn't appear to have reached the retailers yet!

The first batch of production units was sold within minutes, so to speak.
Another batch is now in production.
