I'm in the market for a small low budget control surface.
I don't think Euphonix Artist series works for PC and don't really like Makie or Tascam stuff so the option will probably be JL Coopers Modular system which looks pretty cool.
However Steiberg have their own CC121 which looks great butttttt only one fader which got me thinking I wonder if they will ever make a fader module that clips onto the CC121
So I had some photoshop fun to entice Steinberg into making something. Only took me 1 hour to mockup in Photoshop so the real thing should be ready for the N5 release - Just kidding!
Enjoy :)

RRP for the CC121 is $430 so I reckon RRP for my creation should be about $700
Bargain!

How about this design the SP 5.1 surround panner for $500
http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/8660/surroundpanner.jpg
Everything could just clip together so you could have the CC121, CM-8 & SP 5.1 for $1629
Wow now that would be awesome - At least dreams are free
Please Steinberg or Mr Yamaha :)
Disclaimer: These concepts are by no means any part of Steinberg just an idea from a proud Nuendo/Steinberg customer _________________ Nuendo 4.3+NEK - Neuman U87ai - Sennheiser 416 - BuzzAudio MA2.2 - Euphonix MC Control - Black Magic Intensity Pro - Tannoy |

I'm liking what I see, but since you are the creator of that machine ;-) , you should sell it much cheaper ! :-)

I thought exactly the same thing when I got my CC121,an ad on like this would be perfect. I did send an email to germany to ask about this :-)

Yeah maybe they haven't because Euphonix System 5 is such a big draw card for them and they wouldn't want to compete directly with the Artist Series. So bringing out the CC121 was a smart move because Euphonix don't have anything along that line.
However Steiberg would of spent a bit on R&D for the CC121 so why not expand the range. Personally I think Yamaha should make an Icon/system 5 style board for Nuendo and also expand the CC121 like my wee images. Brand them Steinberg then Digidesign will really have to run for their money.
If Euphonix gets annoyed who cares _________________ Nuendo 4.3+NEK - Neuman U87ai - Sennheiser 416 - BuzzAudio MA2.2 - Euphonix MC Control - Black Magic Intensity Pro - Tannoy |

Nice... but what would kill this and keep it from selling is the same thing that killed the Tascam 24 channel unit. No scribble strips. Without the ability to see at a glance at the physical fader what channel you are about to grab, it's near useless. My bet is that steinberg/yamaha probably has some stuff up their sleeve tho. _________________ Steve Lamm

The CC121 looks like a cheap, ugly toy, IMO, and the Photoshopped (is that a word?) version just exacerbates this. What "we" really need is something that looks much more classy.

Yes good point could be as simple as a ch number or 4 character. However if it puts the price up too much you could have a preference setting that as you channel bank the mixer on screen could have a lighter shade on the background for those channels? not ideal but this would only be entry level controller. _________________ Nuendo 4.3+NEK - Neuman U87ai - Sennheiser 416 - BuzzAudio MA2.2 - Euphonix MC Control - Black Magic Intensity Pro - Tannoy |

Not sure if I agree Just because its not brushed metal looking doesn't make it not classy. The build quality seems to be very good in its price range. I've had a play with the Euphonix Artist and would say that yes it "looks" classy but the buttons feel very plastic. The CC121 Ai knob/Button alone make it a much superior tool IMO.
So then would it be fair to say if SB relaunch the CC121 in brushed metal and clip on expansion units you would be a happy classy man :) _________________ Nuendo 4.3+NEK - Neuman U87ai - Sennheiser 416 - BuzzAudio MA2.2 - Euphonix MC Control - Black Magic Intensity Pro - Tannoy |

re: CC121 It's all about price range and where SB want to pitch their product. if you had 100K you would get a System 5 or something along those lines. The problem is people want 20K+ worth features in a 2K desk. Just not realistic.
I think the CC121 is great. It's pitched at PreSonus FaderPort and Frontier Design Group AlphaTrack. But much better because of the Ai feature
However if SB created some clip on extensions to the range then we would have an alternative to MC Control the Mackie MCU and M Audio thing...
This would mean propose built SB hardware for SB software. Run Pro Tools runnnn _________________ Nuendo 4.3+NEK - Neuman U87ai - Sennheiser 416 - BuzzAudio MA2.2 - Euphonix MC Control - Black Magic Intensity Pro - Tannoy |

I don't think that it is pitched at either the Faderport or the Alphatrack, as it is twice the price of the Alphatrack (and has some quite important limitations) and is three times the price of the Faderport. I still think it looks like a Tonka Toy though. ;>)
